Bradford is a city in West Yorkshire, England.  It is situated in the foothills of the Pennines, 8.6 miles (13.8 km) west  of Leed. The Council provide the local government services to the metropolitan district of Bradford which has a population of 460,000.

 

Bradford rose to prominence during the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture, particularly wool. Following the decline of the the textile sector in Bradford in the mid 20th Century  Bradford has emerged as a tourist destination with attractions such as the National Media Museum, Cartwright Hall, and Saltaire (on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal) which is a World Heritage Site.
