European Maritime Day 2012
Eriksbergshallen Gothenburg
The event is celebrated annually and highlights the importance of the seas and oceans and the challenges facing maritime regions and sectors. This years theme is “Sustainable growth from the oceans, seas and the coasts: Blue growth" The conference will take place in Eriksbergshallen in the former shipyard area of central Gothenburg on 21-22 May 2012. and is free to attend. The European Commission is the organiser of the event, with the government of Sweden, Region Västra Götaland and the City of Gothenburg acting as local partners
Start of anniversary year '150 years canal Roeselare-Leie'
In 2012, it has been 150 years ago that the Belgian government has officially decided to create the Roeselare-Leie canal. A very important decision for the socio-economic development of this region in West-Flanders! The anniversary year will be used to make people (re)discover the canal area and to communicate about all the actions that we are carrying out at the moment through Waterways for Growth.
Seal watching safari
Join us for a seal watching safari every Tuesday from August 16th until June 19th - departure from Kragerø at 10:45 with return at 12:35; Saturdays from August 20th until June 16th - departure from Kragerø at 11:10 with return at 13:00 and Sundays from August 21st until June 17th with departure from Kragerø at 11:45 with return at 13:40. The seal watching safari will take place in the Kragerø archipelago to the island of Jomfruland. Here you will most likely get to experience seals in their natural habitats. It is possible to purchase on board the film 'Selmer the seal', binoculors and rain ponchos. Click on the green link above at Kragerø, Telemark, Norway for more information.
